To Kill A Mockingbird

Rob and I went to see the 1962 film last night at the Laurelhurst. It was one of the rare times when we went into a film where I knew more about it than he did. He’d never read the book or seen a stage version, so was seeing the movie virtually blind. Afterwards he […]

Home again, Home again

I got home at 9:00 this morning. The two shows yesterday went poorly, although the audiences loved them, but they were what I expected from the Friday night show. Dropped lines, skipped scenes, botched numbers…it was still fun, but only because the most of the kids were so earnest about what they were doing. That

What did I do today?

I don’t know…it’s hot. My brain is melting. In other news, Mom and Dad have gone to London to visit my brother. Rob stubbed his toe, while wearing slippers, on our front steps and is now shy a toenail. I’ll spare you the details. We carried our yard sale things down to the Celsi’s. Speaking

The winery?

Rob went down to Bethel Heights yesterday and wound up staying overnight because they wanted him back this morning. I knew that would happen. I took advantage of the reversion to my spinster days to continue reading Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel which I’m very much enjoying.

Photo shoot

Today I went on a modeling gig. Rob came with me, and–sit down–modeled for a camera, willingly. We worked out at the beach for a photo duo. Debra and Charles were very nice and we had a great time. They do stock photography for various clients. When our photos are developed they will be in

Rainy day blues

Rob and I slept in this morning, although I got up before him. I made biscuits for breakfast which was more of an adventure than one would suspect. I didn’t have quite enough flour, so I wound up adding blue cornmeal and steel cut oats to make up the difference. It’s actually nice. The secret,

Newark again

I’ll be getting on the airplane to go home in about an hour. Lately, I’ve been selected for special security screening every time out. I’m finding that I really don’t mind. I know the routine, it’s fast, and the lines for the SSSS are shorter than standard security. I make the security people laugh because

New York

I arrived in NYC with no problems. I had dinner with my friend Sue, and am now sitting in a coffee shop enjoying the internet while waiting for Peter to get out of his show. I’m staying up in Katonah at Peter and Marlene’s place for the next couple of nights. So far, the trip

Seattle

I got up at 5:00 this morning and Rob drove me to the airport for my 6:45 flight. The poor guy has an awful head cold. It started coming on yesterday and is in full swing now. Hopefully I’ll survive this trip without catching it. During boarding in Portland, they sent me back to Security

Danger UXB

Rob has introduced me to an older British series called Danger UXB about a WWII bomb disposal squad. It’s quite good, but I think the main reason he likes it is because the main character drives an MG-TD. Every time the car comes on screen, Rob sits forward and holds his hand to his chest

Yardwork

Today Rob and I did household stuff. He painted our dining room windows and I mowed the lawn. In the evening we went down to visit David and Amy for an evening of sushi and wine. It was really good to see them since they hadn’t been able to make it for the champagne tasting.

Bicycle repair

Rob is in the basement repairing my bike. This is a classic husband moment, I think. It began with a flat tire, and has progressed through tube repair, into tube and tire replacement and now we are at wheel hub rebuild. So, rather than a slow leak I had to remember to pump up before

Back in the USA

I just landed in Minneapolis and my next flight doesn’t leave until 9:13 p.m. Jetlag is not really noticeable yet, although last night was the first night that I slept normally. After we finished shooting, a bunch of us went to Rósa’s house for soup, and wine. We watched Dancing Duel, which was a lot
