For the past several days, I’ve been getting up at 3 a.m. to record because it’s the only reliably quiet time in my apartment. Now why, I ask you, has my upstairs neighbor gotten out of bed to take a shower at this time of morning?

It’s probably best not to ask.
Brian, you have a point.
To mess with you. Clearly.
Clearly. I mean, he doesn’t go to bed until after midnight usually.
Perhaps you have been waking him/her at 3:00am for the last several morning with your recording and he/she decided that you you can’t whip them then join them.
You know, that went through my head, but conversation doesn’t usually carry up or down here unless a window is open. And I’m in the hall, so I shouldn’t be under him.
Apply Murphy’s Law.
Murphy is such a handsome fellow, isn’t he?
Did you try going into any of your closets? When I lived on the bottom floor of my apartment building, I locked myself in my full clothing closet and it was some of the best sound I had! Really blocks out the noise. You just have to squeeze in there! 😉
We thought about it. But because of the closet placement they all have walls on the exterior of the apartment so get more noise than the hallway.
P.S. What do you use for your recording set-up?
I’ll take a picture of the recording set up, such as it is, and post it later.
Re: your neighbor’s showers. Maybe it’s post-quoital?
You know . . . he’s cleaning up after a spirited midnight game of quoits. . . .

See the most recent things Pete and I have said…this is turning out to be one heck of a headache, but I’m trying to do this without bothering you too much. But at this point, I need your input/permission! 🙂
Ugh. Let me send you a photo that I’m certain is cleared. I’ll email you.
Oooh! LOVE the file drawer label holders!
Thanks! Did you notice that the pictures up above are no longer polaroids?
Well, of course, they wouldn’t be, now that polaroid film is no longer available…
