Pride and Prejudice in twelve words? Really?

A friend passed this along to me.  It’s a board book of Pride and Prejudice for children ages 0-3. In twelve words. Here’s the description from the website. The bold is mine.

Classics never go out of style—that’s what makes them classic. Cozy Classics is a new board book series that presents well-loved stories to children aged 0+. Every classic in the series will be condensed to 12 baby-friendly words, and each word will appear alongside a photograph of needle felted objects. Pride and Prejudice is a timeless romance about how a bad first impression can turn into love, and one of the world’s most beloved classics. Now this classic can be shared with your youngest children.

I mean, the photos are lovely but… Pride and Prejudice in twelve words? I just…  How is that even possible?

I mean the title isn’t even baby-friendly.

Edited to add: Ooo! They have Cozy Classics: Moby Dick, too. I wonder what the words are. Ahab, Whale, Boat, Death…

  1. I totally have to get this for my baby. Even if it’s not great. It’s the principle of Austen at five months old.
