Lo! It is a real book! I got four ARCs of Shades of Milk and Honey in the mail today. FOUR. It is the first time I’ve held it in book form and it makes me all giggly like a starlet on Iron Chef, eating squid. Um… that’s a good thing, honest.
Clearly, this isn’t the cover art but LOOK! It’s shaped like a book. I have seen the cover and it is very pretty but I don’t have a copy of the final art yet so you just have to be patient awhile longer.
I can show you what the first page of the interior looks like though, so you can see the lovely interior design.
Tee hee!
Huzzah!
I will bring it on Saturday the way other people bring pictures of their babies.
Woo!
(I’ve got a nice shiny copy in my hands, too!)
Yay! And it is shiny, isn’t it? Most of the ARCs I get are matte finish but this one is glossy.
Hehe, nice, time for show and tell (don’t tell me there’s an NDA). Why is it called ARC and not AUC?
It probably should be AUP but ARC stands for Advance Review Copy and the uncorrected proofs get send out as that.
Pretty! I am so excited!
Most awesome! Congrats.
WOW!! Thank you!!! The UPS truck arrived during dinner on Friday and I couldn’t imagine what they were bringing– I was so surprised to see your book– and my name in the front! You are too kind! I started it right away– before the dishes were even cleared (no mean feat with three kids 4 and under at the table!) I finished it yesterday (again, no mean feat….) The only problem was that I moved my Husband’s bookmark… :~P I’ve already promised it to my mom for her flight next week.
I THOROUGHLY enjoyed it!! You did a great job and it blended my favorite genres…Austen and Fairytales! It reminded me a lot of Robin McKinley’s book, Spindle’s End, for some reason.
Anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! What a treat you have given me! I’d love to review this for the Jane Austen Centre when it’s a bit closer to the publication date!
Laura
My dear Laura, you and your website were really so very helpful that thanking you in the novel is the very least I could do. I’m so very glad you enjoyed it. One is always a bit apprehensive when sending something like this to an expert. And of course, I would love for you to review it for the Austen Centre. That’s so kind of you!
How exciting! I’m thrilled for you, Mary.
