Christmas shopping

Okay. This was the coolest thing in the world, for me. I went to the bookstore to pick up Christmas gifts for my family to save me the cost and hassle shipping them to Chattanooga. With one exception, I wound up selecting books written by people I know. I like all of these people, and have been very happy for their success, but I turned into the total fan-girl in the books store. Two years ago, I don’t think I knew any novelists.

Sadly, I can’t tell you which books they were because my family reads the blog and I’ve already tipped my hand that most of them/you are getting books this year.

  1. Years ago, I used to find it irritiating that I couldn’t keep up with all the new science fiction books coming out that I wanted to read.

Now I’m irritated that I can’t keep up with the science fiction coming out … just from my friends!!

But it sure is neat to pick up books from all these people I’ve come to know over the years. The longer you do Shimmer, the more you’ll see this happening!

  2. No kidding! I’m also running into the problem that my husband and I were winnowing down our stuff after we got married, so I stopped buying books and just used the libraries. But now! Now I want to own all of these books.

It’s such a pleasant problem to have.
