For those of you reading along, Chapter 5 is posted.
I spent most of my drive to and from Chattanooga working on the novel, without actually jotting anything down. While I know that there’s the ability to use voice recognition software, I actually find it incredibly useful to just daydream scenes. The side effect of this, however, is that when I finally do get to a computer I feel as though I have to offload a serious amount of material or feel logy.
Two days with back to back ten hour drives… I’ve got some serious fiction to commit.
Do you find that you struggle to remember the scenes you were daydreaming when you finally get the chance to sit down and offload? I sometimes find myself plotting in my head as I take my daily walks, but I sometimes have problems remembering everything when I get in front of the computer.
I started doing something similar to this on my daily commute each morning while I was outlining and plotting my current work. The way I dealt with the remembering what I had daydreamed was to record myself with my phone as I drove along – I have an Android and use tapeatalk. Then, if I can’t remember something, I can always go back and listen. Worked perfectly for me. And it’s a great way to turn a boring commute into something both productive and enjoyable.
