Sprint requires a two-year service contract to turn my phone on for the two months I’ll be home. No. No, thank you. I’m looking for a new service.
Who do you use? Do you like your cell service or do you hate it?

If you’re only wanting it for two months, I’d suggest just getting one of those pay-as-you-go phones. I have no idea which ones have the best rates, but it makes a lot more sense than signing a contract!
I use a pay-as-you-go plan myself; I only use the cell for occasional calls and emergencies. I go through T-Mobile.
I have Verizon, and they were very kind when I got a $350 bill because I went over my 450 minute per month limit by 500 minutes. Great service areas and I’ve never experienced a dropped call.
Mary, we use AT&T-2-GO Wireless. You can purchase as much time as you wish…as low as ten dollars per refill card if you wish. No contract.
See, no service plan. That’s what I’m looking for.
On a bit of the geeky side, if you get certain GSM based phones, and get it unlocked, you can use SIM cards from the US and from Europe. It might cost a bit more because you’d usually want a more expensive quad-band phone, and the unlocking of or buying an already unlocked phone tends to cost more, but people who travel frequently can find it quite nice to not have to use multiple phones. Also, if you use an unlocked GSM based phone, you can change service providers and keep the same phone, as long as they’re also GSM based. (not Verizon)
