Case Study Coffee: Perfect Hot Chocolate. Perfect

I talk about Case Study Coffee a fair bit, and how it’s my favorite coffee shop in Portland. Now, part of that is because it is close and they let me sit for hours to write.

It’s a nice shop with good light and a pleasant atmosphere. But…

But they take their beverages very seriously. Case in point: This is Ricky, at Case Study Coffee, making the perfect cup of hot cocoa. It’s the Madagascar Hot Chocolate featuring Michel Cluizel mangaro chocolate from Madagascar, with a Toasted marshmallow, made at the Bake Shop next door, and sprinkled with Fleur de Sel chocolate from Guatamala.

It has exactly the right balance of sweetness, with the rich dark earthiness of a stellar chocolate, combined with steamed milk and just enough of a salt note to heighten all of those flavors and… mmm…

Perfect. Hot. Chocolate.

Oh, and did I mention that I’m having the launch party for Glamour in Glass here?

  1. I’ve never thought of toasting the marshmallow.  I’m going to have to try that next time I make hot cocoa.

  2. I WANT TO COME!!!…Oh wait, I don’t live even close to OR…It starts with an ‘O’ though…Hasn’t anyone invented teleportation yet???

  3. Have to say again, the Hot Chocolate at this place looks divine, and as you’ve described, that’s what it is, I’m sure. My wife Kerrie and I are seriously contemplating the drive down to Portland from WA at least for a snippet of the launch party!
