I’ve crossed the 50,000 word mark in the NaNoWriMo race. The novel is, naturally, far from finished, but it is very satisfying to know that I can write 50k in 20 days. If I maintained this pace, then I would have a completed draft by the end of the month. I may aim for that, but typically I slow down for the last third of the novel as I start bringing pieces together. We’ll see what happens with this one.
I think I’m not actually at the 2/3 mark because I suspect that I will wind up cutting the first couple of chapters and replacing them with a single one that covers the same plot ground, but a little more compactly. We’ll see. I’m going to wait to adjust that until I’m farther in.
Meanwhile, for those of you who are reading along, here is Chapter 12 of the Without a Summer draft.
Me? I’m going to have one of the chocolate and tart cherry muffins that my husband just pulled out of the oven. And a scotch. Glenmorangie La Sinta.
Chapter 12 showed up as a public post on your Livejournal
Thanks. I accidentally posted it publicly but the WIP category isn’t supposed to crosspost at all. Someone pointed it out last night and I thought I fixed it. Annoying that it didn’t take.
