Now THIS is how to do overt puppetry.
It’s from Warhorse, playing in London’s West End and the puppetry is by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company.

Wow. Gorgeous!
That is stunning. I wish you could go see it. i wish I could, too!
I… I… I don’t know if I could go and see this. One line from the trailer and I’m sitting here in tears. I would probably be destroyed by this if I went to see it in live theatre.
And you’re right. The puppetry is astonishing. But one line from the trailer… and I forgot about the puppets. All I saw was real heart.
Amazing — wish I could get to London to see it!
Pseudo-related question: can you recommend any online sources for modeling supplies?
Wow. I’m left breathless.
As as horseman I just want to say…
…WOW!
I want to be a puppeteer when I grow up.
Seriously, from those little snippets I can see a whole lot of time and attention being payed here: to the movement, character, and effect of the horses. Overt puppetry? No, I imagine the overt puppeteers blend in completely …
…I’m blathering, because I’m so freaking awed and inspired. Thank you (seriously) for sharing.
It’s work like this that makes me get on my soapbox every time someone says puppets are for kids.
I’d almost fly to London to see this. Maybe it’ll still be there when we go in the fall. I can almost see those horses breathe.
Wow. Just…wow.
