August 2010’s RT Seal of Excellence was Shades of Milk and Honey! I’m seriously delighted by this. Here are some comments from one of the editors on why my debut novel won the honor.
“So often in a fantasy novel, the magic of the world is hastily wound around the characters and plot. However, Kowal’s glamours are so artfully integrated that, after reading this book, it is almost difficult to think of the Regency without the magic. This story is one of subtlety and includes ethereal events, exquisite prose, delicately drawn characters and tender emotions.” – RT Web Editor Morgan Doremus
The other editors weigh in as well and you can read more about their thought process at August Seal Of Excellence | RT Book Reviews.
Further proof, as if we needed it, that you totally rock.
That’s awesome! Congrats!
Congrats!! Super cool.
slightly off-topic, but in the realm of congrats:
Just read your “American Changeling” on the Daily Science Fiction mailing list… AWESOME! In more ways than I can count… short stories are supposed to be very dense stuff, but this has more easter eggs in it than the Bunny’s own basket, right down to the title itself!
I wonder, though… our heroine has pulled her makeshift weapon from the stone… that in itself could be a reference; I was half-expecting it to be… maybe it is? Sequel time? 🙂
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. And as for sequels, I have nothing to say on the matter and certainly not about any possible novels set in the American Changeling universe.
