I used to bake bread fairly regularly. I like the action of kneading dough, but I’d forgotten how good the house smells while the bread is in the oven. Oh heavens.
I just pulled out the Scottish Oatmeal bread, with cinnamon and raisins. It is making everything else in life seem wonderful by mere association.
Mmmmm, it sounds wonderful.
I used to bake bread, too. I did a wonderful bread braid and somehow lost the recipe. No other recipe has been quite as good as that one. It’s funny how we have our favorites, even though they’re all so yummy.
My hands and wrists object to it now, but if you’re mad about someone or something, there’s no therapy quite as good as beating up dough :).
I know what you mean about favorites. I keep coming back to the same muffin recipe.
I can see where kneading might be a problem if you have hand and wrist issues. Oddly, the movements are similar to some of the things I was doing in physical therapy for my shoulder.
Hey, maybe your physical therapist will start recommending kneading bread as a new therapy. I bet it does help, too.
I have carpal tunnel and tendinitis in my hands, but the symptoms seem to go away or ease up when my weight is down and I exercise a lot. Which, those things are on the summer vacation list!
This sounds familiar. The better shape I’m in, the less trouble I have with my shoulders.
