We’re sorting the basement for the yardsale. Here are some of the things which will be in the sale.
I built this cyclops head for Mt. Hood’s production of Odyssey. It has since been in Jack and the Beanstalk and then sat in my basement for years and years. It’s papier-mache and quite light.
I have no idea why this turtle shell is in my basement. I think it’s the Mock Turtle’s from Alice in Wonderland, but I was also fairly certain that we built that one out of fiberglass and this is papier-mache. So many shows, so long ago.
Beaver costume, anyone? It includes mask, body and a very fine tail.
I wish there were a way to discuss beavers without sounding dirty.
This is the saddest thing in my basement. These are puppets with insects living in them. I can’t save them because they are a danger to other puppets as well as being fairly gross. It is still painful to have to throw them out.
That is an AWESOME yard sale.
Could you move your insect invaded puppets to the freezer for a few days? Deep freeze might take care of the infestation problem.
Thank you, Cat. Sorry you can’t make it down.
momk: I would still worry about eggs. Bugs can be pretty tenacious.
I suspect that the cyclops head will go in the sale… it certainly will attract a lot of attention from passing motorists!!! If, by some twist of fate, it is still with you at the end of the day, remember that we will offer it safe harbor.
Awww Mary, I vote you gift that cyclops to -e- and give it that safe shelter in Portland for years to come.
Freezing should take care of the eggs as well. It’s the recommended treatment for infested books.
You’d never guess I work with rare books now, would you???

That will be a very fun yard sale. 🙂
They tell you to not use ammonia and bleach together because it releases a poison gas that will kill you. Maybe you could put the puppets in a garbage bag (outside) and mix the two on purpose, somehow keeping the liquid off of the puppets.
