I’ve called a cab which is picking me up at 7am to take me to Amtrak for the 8:13 train. The other trains were sold out until the last one at 7:00pm. I am getting to the station absurdly early, but at this point feel that I should build in crazy amounts of extra time for things to go wrong. In theory. I will get to Portland around 11:00 and take the bus home.
I heard from Irene and Edwin, who made it home safely. Apparently it was an annoying trip because the car alarm kept going off, despite being disabled.
Naturally, I will keep you posted on how the rest of the day goes.
The only possible ending to this story is for you to end up in Canada.
It has crossed my mind that it would be easier than trying to get home.

Trading mind crossings for train crossings. I love traveling by train, but there are pitfalls. The first time I had to wait an hour on a train for another train to pass the line was so disappointing. I thought they had that stuff worked out by now.
Methods of travel by preference:
1) Walk
2) Bike
3) Train
4) Bus
5) Motorcycle (this one has fallen four spots in recent polling of me)
6) Car
7) Dragged through street by angry mob
8) Fall out of airplane to death
9) Airplane
They mostly have it worked out, but Amtrak doesn’t own the lines so freight still takes precedence in most places.
Perhaps if you picked a destination somewhere other than home you might end up at home by ‘accident’.
Hm… I suspect that I would still wind up someplace random.
hey- it is now 12:30… I hesitate to ask, but..?
I’m home. I had to greet Rob properly before blogging.
