David Goldman pointed out this short film, Draw the Pirate. It has no connection to Shimmer‘s Pirate issue. Really. You’ve got to admire the fact that the film makers tell a complete story with no spoken words at all.
I love Modern Mechanix. Today they’ve got Mechanical Secrets of Marionette Shows Part I. This is an article about Tony Sarg, one of the forefathers of American puppetry. Check it out.

Clearly, working with Shimmer, I’m a big believer in the power of small press magazines. So when I see Talebones, one of the most respected small press magazines put out a cry for help, I’m going to post about it. I saw this over at Nightshade Books. Dear Family, Friends, Peers, Acquaintances: Talebones has been
I’m still working on The Bride Replete First On board, the ship’s crew ran about preparing the steamer to depart, their bellies flat and taut. Last Pimi’s red tunic glared like a beacon against the muted colors of Repp-Virja. 1027 words today, bringing me up to 1252.

I finished my Doctor Who story somewhere over Greenland. Here’s a picture out the window when I finished. Every other time I’ve flown over it has been winter and it has been solid white. I’m astounded at how bleak it looks now. The small white bits, which from the plane looked like styrofoam spread over

Well, I’m on my way to Readercon today. I’ll be in the U.S. until Sunday. My plane won’t land in Iceland until Monday morning, so I’ll be walking straight onto set. That should be fun. Mmmm. Jet-lag and puppets. Who could ask for more. While I’m there, I’ll have my cellphone for dire emergencies, but
Shimmer » The Pirate Issue Pirates! The word evokes the high seas, deep space and bootleg software. Be honest, who hasn’t wanted to be a pirate? Think of plunder, booty–Avast!
