I spent the day at the studio with my new employee, Teddi, working on repairing the grabbing branches of Audrey II. They were pretty mangled, but are functional again, and might even look nice. I spent most of the day editing a short story today, trying to cut 800 words out of it. Why 800? It was close to 9000 words, which I thought was too long. I had often heard the advice to cut 10% of a story and thought I would try it, to see what happened.
Blogger has added a feature so that you can post your name with your comments. Just click on “Other” rather than “Anonymous” and you can type any name in that you wish. Nifty, hm?
I biked fourteen miles today. That’s six miles to the studio and then home again, as well as a one mile to meet a writing group and then a mile home. I’m a little tired, but feeling very satisfied. Rob is doing situps. I think he’s feeling left out.

I spent a chunk of today at our studio space working on Audrey II. It’s not so much a refurbishing job at the moment as it is a down-to-the-studs overhaul. Here’s what the upper jaw of an Audrey II looks like when it’s had all the cloth stripped off.
I had coffee with Nancy Aldritch this morning and have begun work on the Irvington Home Tour. Things are starting to get busy so my posts might get shorter.

Maggie is home and surprisingly frisky. She won’t let me take her picture, I guess she knows she looks odd. From the left, she looks perfectly normal, but from the right she looks a sheep that had an itch while it was being sheered. I always thought her Meow sounded suspiciously sheep-like.
Gardening begins and is a lovely distraction from all responsibilities. Here are our planters. I have brocolli, strawberries, mizuna, and sweet peas planted. Mmm-mmm.

I just got off the phone with the vet. He found another smaller mass next to the first lump. He removed both and we’ll get them biopsied. They are also pulling a couple of her teeth because they are rotten. She’s going to hate me when she gets home.
Well, I dropped Maggie off at the vet today. He’s supposed to call sometime mid-day to let me know how the surgery went, and if all goes well I’ll be picking her up between four and seven tonight.
I did some yard work today, including planting the raised bed/wine barrels in the front yard. Rob went down to the studio to edit Christmas Carol. And Don Dougherty stopped by for wine and cheese. It was nice to see him. The weather was so nice that we actually sat in the back yard. Lovely.
