I’m hopping on a plane today and flying to Houston, TX where I will read at Murder by the Book. I’ll be reading from Without a Summer and maybe, possibly, have a sneak preview of the fourth book. Oh, and party favours! And a puppet show!
And I’ll be in a Regency costume.
6:30 tonight.

If you can’t make it, you can pre-order a signed book from the store. They are wonderful, lovely people.
But you’ll be there, right?
It was a wonderful, lovely evening at your signing here in Houston. Even if the weather was perhaps a bit damp. Thank you for making it so enjoyable! And for anyone else attending signings in the future, just reference Doctor Who and Hugh Laurie, buy every book of hers the store offers, and everyone will have a good time. Okay, that might have been too self-referential, but it is so nice to click with an author even for the 30 seconds they’re signing your book. It can make reader a fan for life. Oh, and it helps that you’re so awesome a writer.
Too strong? Perhaps, but true. Now to get through lots more episodes of Writing Excuses…
Thank you again,
Bill
Thank you so much for coming out and doing all of that reading. I’m quite staggered.
Now I didn’t read EVERY piece of fiction you’ve published. Just all the ones listed in your “Free Fiction” link. Plus a handful more that I found by searching. So maybe 27 stories in all (and I didn’t know “Lady Astronaut” was listed there until I got home). I’m not a fast reader, but I can dedicate myself enough.
When I was a teenager, I met Orson Scott Card at a book signing, and bought a few. A year later, I learned he was coming back, so I thought maybe I’d better read this “Ender’s Game” and “Speaker for the Dead” before then. Good call. Going to a few conventions meant I was meeting writers whose work I was completely unfamiliar with. “Hey, yooou! You write fiction!” doesn’t quite work. So I try to catch up so I can connect a little better than that.
And now I’ll have to keep up with your blog too! Thank you for making my “homework” a real pleasure.
Bill
