I don’tthink it’s so much toaskfor my spacebar to work consistently. I mean, really. Ifit didn’t work all the time, then it would beeasier to consign the keyboard to oblivion.Banging on it seems to help, but,as you can see,not always. I’vecleaned out the keyboard andthere are no visible obstructions.
It does notmakewritingany easier.
Later,I will return and it will havemiraculously fixeditself. Butonly afterIspend some time shoppingfora newcomputer.
Perhaps an Asus zenbook? Oh… now you’re scared and you’reworking. Or not.
My shift key snapped off thanks to the cat and I had to cobble together a workaround based on the other shift key– it mostly works, but sometimes doesn’t. No fun at all.
It is also generally possible to buy just a new keyboard assembly for most laptops. Usually they run around $45-60, MUCH cheaper than a new computer, even a netbook.
Shh… You are spoiling my rationale for buying a new computer.
If it’s that bad, I’d pop the key off and clean it separately. You can get key removers, but really they’re large paperclips bent so they hook underneath and apply simultaneous pressure. Also, if it’s a keyboard, as opposed to a laptop keyboard, word is that they can be run through the dishwasher (I’ve never done this, but I know others who have.
Good luck. When one key doesn’t work, especially on a keyboard you really like the touch of (even replacing with the identical keyboard doesn’t guarantee the same touch), it’s hard to give up.
Thanks. I do that fairly regularly. It’s not the problem.
