Thursday night I went to the Cedar Hills Powell’s to hear J. A. Pitts read his debut novel Black Blade Blues. I’d read the ARC of it and was very glad that his book tour brought him to my town. The book crosses Norse mythology with the world of low-budget films and blacksmithing. The main character has two separate careers. She’s a blacksmith and a props builder for films. I have a lot of sympathy for her. It was a fun evening. I picked up a copy of the book for my niece.
