I worked on the Portland Spirit today, and needed to get a rag out of the engine room. For reasons that are unclear, the rags are kept on a shelf over the stairs, or ladder in proper nautical terms. I say “stairs” but ladder is probably closer. They are so steep that it is difficult to put your whole foot on a tread. As I reached for the rag box, my right heel slipped out from under me.
Remember when you were a kid and used to bump down stairs like they were a slide? And you know how if you try that as an adult it doesn’t work? Well, if they are steep enough, it does, because I went down the stairs like a greased slide.
I’m fine. Well, I am expecting a massive bruise on my rump and lesser bruises elsewhere. My biggest worry is that I had wrenched my shoulder last month and it did not like today’s activity.
Ouch!
Glad you are not seriously injured.
But: Ouch!
