Interviewing Experts with Medieval Historian Alisa K. Beer

Mary Robinette hosts an interview with an expert in their field once a month for her $25 Patreon supporters. The topic rotates depending on the guest’s area of expertise.

Alisa K. Beer is a Ph.D. candidate at Fordham University in the History Department. Her dissertation examines the management of late medieval English monastic libraries via their surviving financial records.

She has taught introductory medieval and modern European history classes and worked for James Cummins Bookseller, a New York City antiquarian bookseller.

Before coming to Fordham, Alisa completed an MLS at Indiana University, Bloomington, where she focused on rare books and special collections librarianship and worked as a cataloger at the Lilly Library and for Maggs Brothers, a London antiquarian bookseller.

Prior to attending library school, she worked as a catalog assistant for the Beinecke Library. She is a member of the Grolier Club.
