You’ll hear a lot of American puppeteers referring to Bunraku or Bunraku styled puppets. Bunraku was originally the name of the theater company, while the puppetry style was called ningyo joruri. Which is part of why I, personally, have a pet peeve when people say that they do bunraku puppets, because it seems like saying

We’re sorting the basement for the yardsale. Here are some of the things which will be in the sale. I built this cyclops head for Mt. Hood’s production of Odyssey. It has since been in Jack and the Beanstalk and then sat in my basement for years and years. It’s papier-mache and quite light. I
This, right here, is why I get cranky when I see an author write something like, “he flopped like a marionette.” Perhaps, “he flopped like a badly-operated marionette” might be applicable, but Joe Cashore will now demostrate that, yes, a marionette is capable of realistic movement. I had the pleasure of seeing him perform live

I met with a lawyer yesterday about the continuing saga. He looked over the documents that I have on the case and said that Carlile was blowing smoke. His advice was to go ahead with the claim. If they deny the claim, then we’ll talk about sueing. Meanwhile, I contacted Marty Robinson, the man who

I am so angry I am shaking. Carlile You are more than welcome to file a claim, however, it will be denied. Your nine months and one day expired on December 28, 2006. In the eyes of freight carriers and court cases that is ample time for a claimant to gather all the evidence they

Oh, I am about to bite someone. I just got this from Carlile Transportation’s claim department. I have researched our claims database, which goes back to 2003, and see no record of ever receiving notification this was missing or that a claim was submitted for this. Time limits for filing a claim for missing freight

I called Carlisle shipping, again, about our missing Audrey II puppets. The representative at one point said, “That poor little lost puppet.” Hm… Audrey II, little? I don’t think so. I realized that she was thinking of someone’s sock puppet or something, so I said, “Actually, there were four puppets in the case and they
