Koren’s Birthday
I’ve been so wrapped up in the puppets that I nearly forgot Koren’s Birthday is today. Happy Birthday!

This is a photo of Maggie’s repair. She is lying on her back in Rob’s arms. It was the only way we could get her to hold still long enough to take a photo.

These are the puppets from Little Shop of Horrors which I am repairing. This is what Pod #3 looks like without skin.

Thanks to the wonder of Craig’s list I now have two assistants, one of which has built a set of Audrey II’s before. We had a very productive day and I’m feeling like we might actually finish all of the parts ontime. I’m not out of the woods yet, but I’m starting to feel like
Teddi called me this morning half an hour before she was supposed to be at work and announced that she didn’t think she was the right person for the job. She quit because of the commute. I’m scrambling to find someone else.

I spent the day at the studio with my new employee, Teddi, working on repairing the grabbing branches of Audrey II. They were pretty mangled, but are functional again, and might even look nice. We’ll see. I don’t think I’m going to have the Finale branches repaired by Monday, but I’ve come to the conclusion
I spent most of the day editing a short story today, trying to cut 800 words out of it. Why 800? It was close to 9000 words, which I thought was too long. I had often heard the advice to cut 10% of a story and thought I would try it, to see what happened.

I biked fourteen miles today. That’s six miles to the studio and then home again, as well as a one mile to meet a writing group and then a mile home. I’m a little tired, but feeling very satisfied. Rob is doing situps. I think he’s feeling left out.
I just wandered over to the Lazy Town website and found this picture. I didn’t know they had put these up there. These are all the folks I worked with last year. No. Dad, don’t even ask. I am not doing captions with everyone’s name.

I spent a chunk of today at our studio space working on Audrey II. It’s not so much a refurbishing job at the moment as it is a down-to-the-studs overhaul. Here’s what the upper jaw of an Audrey II looks like when it’s had all the cloth stripped off.
I had coffee with Nancy Aldritch this morning and have begun work on the Irvington Home Tour. Things are starting to get busy so my posts might get shorter.
I went to Lewis and Clark College today to meet with Jonathan Gibson, who has written an opera called Carp and Diva. I will be building the carp. Afterwards, I biked over to meet Rob and Wayne at the tennis courts and then we came home. I had a couple of funny moments on the
We had a small gathering in our back yard today, because the weather was so lovely. Everyone admired the new floor and counter, but only because I forced them inside to look at the new surfaces. Rob and I just got back from The Life Aquatic. It was a lot of fun. This is also
