Arabian Nights

Emily and I came up to McCarter Theater in Princeton, NJ to work with Chris on our final designs for Arabian Nights. We spent all day in a very long, great meeting going over set and puppet choices. Chris and his wife Jamie are letting Emily and me stay at they home so we don’t […]

Social butterfly

Today after solving a puzzle with three-year old Jonah, I went into the city and had lunch with David. Then I met with Emily about Arabian Nights. From there I went to dinner with Jonathan. All in all, a very satisfying day, but I’m worn out. Tomorrow I go to Princeton.

Staten Island

I went to Staten Island for the first time, in order to have lunch with some writer friends. We had a great time and talked for several hours, and then Dan offered to give me a lift to Brooklyn, since it would save me some time. Or rather, it would have, if his car had

Sold!

I just sold my fourth story to All-Star Stories Presents: Twenty Epics! It’s called Bound Man and I’m excited beyond the ability to use words effectively. I’m grinning like an idiot. This is the first sale that’s over $10.

I spent the day hanging out shooting the breeze with Ron Binion, an old puppeteer friend of mine. We were meeting for lunch and then wound up talking shop for hours. Afterwards, I met up with Sue B. who is heading to Italy. Now I’m back in Katonah.

New York

I arrived in NYC with no problems. I had dinner with my friend Sue, and am now sitting in a coffee shop enjoying the internet while waiting for Peter to get out of his show. I’m staying up in Katonah at Peter and Marlene’s place for the next couple of nights. So far, the trip

Seattle

I got up at 5:00 this morning and Rob drove me to the airport for my 6:45 flight. The poor guy has an awful head cold. It started coming on yesterday and is in full swing now. Hopefully I’ll survive this trip without catching it. During boarding in Portland, they sent me back to Security

Things to pack

I had lunch with Sue, worked on the last of the Home Tour things, and made scones–not in that order. I have to pack because I get on a plane for NYC tomorrow morning. I’ll be back on the 20th of May. Yes. I will continue to update the travelogue while I’m gone.

Danger UXB

Rob has introduced me to an older British series called Danger UXB about a WWII bomb disposal squad. It’s quite good, but I think the main reason he likes it is because the main character drives an MG-TD. Every time the car comes on screen, Rob sits forward and holds his hand to his chest

Yardwork

Today Rob and I did household stuff. He painted our dining room windows and I mowed the lawn. In the evening we went down to visit David and Amy for an evening of sushi and wine. It was really good to see them since they hadn’t been able to make it for the champagne tasting.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Rob and I are both lucky enough to have mothers who would be our friends even if they weren’t related to us. So you’d think, with such wonderful ladies, that we would have raised to know when Mother’s Day is. But that’s how good and modest they are, not seeking false praise or– Okay, so

Practising

I spent a fair portion of the day practising in front of the camera. It’s not particuarly fun, because there’s no one to interact with…it’s more like doing etudes. I turn the camera on, hook it up to the TV so I can have a monitor and then practise running the puppet back and forth.
