On January 21, I will be on a panel at Chattacon 31, a science-fiction convention in Chattanooga, called Writing – when can I quit my day job. I told them that my day job was in puppetry. This should be interesting.
Tonight, for a simple meal I made a split-pea soup with carmelized onions and cumin. I have to say, that I really liked this recipe. Split-pea soup is one of those things which doesn’t translate well to a vegitarian version, because it seems to need the addition of ham in some form. This didn’t.

Rob and Dad are both still sick. I think it hit Rob harder than Dad because Rob spent most of the day in bed. He’s got a horrid sinus headache. I think Dad is just as congested, but it doesn’t make his head hurt the way Rob’s does. The last of our boxes arrived today,
I sent the winter Shimmer to the printers today. Whew. Now, I’m just crossing my fingers hoping that it arrived safely. I’ve spent all of the last couple of days dealing with it so that’s why I’ve been fairly sparing with my online updates. My eyes were crossed from staring at the screen.

For New Year’s Eve we all went down to George and Julie’s house in Atlanta. Based on the amount of food, Julie seemed to be expecting more than the dozen guests attending. We dined and drank champagnes and Spanish wines. My cousin Robert, their eldest son, is off to Spain for five months of study
After the High Museum we all went to the Center for Puppetry Arts to see Shoemaker and the Elves. Tears of Joy will be restaging it and I am slated to be the designer for their production so it seemed like a good idea to catch the show while I was here.
