Tonight at 8pm Pacific, I’ll be on Geek and Sundry’s The Story Board hosted by Patrick Rothfuss. We’ll be discussing the topic, “Concerning Characters”
Guests: Bradley Beaulieu, Mary Robinette Kowal, and Amber Benson
They’ll be discussing what makes a good character, how to create a character that people will care about, the process of creating a character, etc. The overall broader idea is basically why should someone care about characters in a story? How do characters contribute, what makes them important? How do you make that happen? They’ll be starting with that broadish topic and moving into the details as they go.
You can watch the full episode here.
Sorry I missed the taping of this live. But thanks for putting it up for all to enjoy
First person narrative, IMO, does allow you to soak into a character–and if its done well, you can really get inside him or her.
