I love my editor. Debby Vetter has done a beautiful job editing my story for CICADA. I just got them in the mail today and I’m very, very happy. Yay! I agreed with all of her cuts and she caught a world-building glitch.
I had a highschool student in my SF story referring to “paperwork in triplicate.” Yeah, like they would still be using carbon copies. Maybe I should have him run something off on the mimeograph too? Fortunately, that’s an easy, easy fix.
She sent me the edited version of the story and the marked up copy of the story. I read straight through the edited version and only noticed one change. The rest was seamless. When I looked at the markup, I was impressed with her attention to detail. Very tidy, very thoughtful.
Have I mentioned that I’m pleased?
“This Little Pig” comes out in the January/February 2007 issue of CICADA.
I have a story in that issue as well. Cicada is the best magazine I’ve ever worked with…can’t wait to see it come out!
Debby has been a joy to work with.
