Welcome to April! We all deserve a pat on the back for having collectively made it through March. April feels more like a new year than January ever did. Vaccinations have begun rolling out, and I’m starting to feel a flutter of hope springing forth alongside the flowers and greenery reviving themselves outside. Maybe, soon, we can all go out and do things again. Not necessarily anything in particular – just things, like having coffee in a corner café, or going to a restaurant. The things that used to be normal in The Before Times.
March, at least, had some lovely virtual events to help tide us over and feel connected. As usual, The Lady Astronaut Club held its daily Zoom coworking sessions. We even had a game night to commemorate the launch of Zoom coworking! Many people have expressed that being part of the LAC has been a huge help in keeping connected with the outside world. If you’ve been struggling too, remember that you can join the LAC either by sending in your self addressed stamped envelope or by signing up to my Patreon.
A few of my speaking events last month were also recorded, in case you missed them. Sno-Isle Libraries was kind enough to host me for their Open Book event, where I spoke about the history of spaceflight and where women and people of color fit in. The recording is available on their Youtube channel with captions. I was also a guest on Draft2Digital’s livestream. If you’re interested to hear more about how #DisneyMustPay has been going, there are a few tidbits of news in that talk!
But now… we must look to the future. To the new events coming up this month. To April!
