It’s been a great run, but I’m sitting here wondering what I should do after four years on the board. What should I do since tomorrow there are so many things that will no longer be my problem.
Scalzi is out of town. I don’t have to turn the keys over to Rachel until tomorrow, which means I still have access to the hyper-intelligent were-badgers and their lasers of doom.
Ooo… and then there’s the red button in our secret lair. I’ve always wondered what would happen if I pushed it. Maybe on my way out the door?
Mary,
You’ve given SFWA a level of service and commitment that has been awe-inspiring. I was so proud to have you be part of my administration, and your work since I left has continued to be so valuable and important. I personally want to thank you for your service, and as for what you should do tomorrow, may I kindly suggest… a day/week/month/year away from SFWA, for a much needed and well-deserved rest?
Best,
Russell
YES. PRESS IT.
Thanks for your time, energy, and sanity. Go get some sleep. 🙂
I vote for not pressing it. I have this bad feeling that it would be worse than having to deliver a “BLUE” letter ala “The Hudsucker Proxy.” Besides, the werebadgers are Hyper-intelligent and they don’t even push the red button.
