If you are reading along, I just decided to make a structural change and moved a couple of scenes several chapters earlier. You’ll need to start reading at “Vincent seemed to expand as he drew an angry breath,” in Chapter 5 to get the new scenes. Chapter 6 is almost entirely new. Chapter 7 is the previous chapter 6.
That’s simple, right.
I might wind up changing it back, but I was seeing a consistent reaction that I think this change will address. If it plays the way I hope it will then I’ll go back in and do some transition tidying.

Edited to add: I’ve realized that the change introduces a timeline problem and need to return to the original plan. Darn it. This solved some things but created larger problems. I’m restoring now so everything I wrote above is wrong, except the part about perhaps changing it back.
