Reading A Local Habitation, Day 1

I spent today in a soundproof box reading.  Fortunately, it’s a book I like and the director and audio engineer are nice folks.  Still, it was a long, long day.  We finished chapter 9 and will start up again tomorrow on page 116.  The book is 377 pages long so we got about a third of the way through it.

My biggest challenge so far was on page 35-36 which has eight characters in conversation.  Eight. I ran out of highlighter colors and had to move to doing two lines of color for one of the characters.  Eight.

The interesting thing about reading is that I’ll go for a giant stretch with no stumbles and then have a page where I stop every other line. Most of that is related to going to fast so I have to constantly remind myself to slow down.  Slooooow.

And now to bed, perchance to dream.

  1. Not sure why, but every audio engineer I’ve met is really chill.

I am not sure whether I am more impressed with how many voices you have, or how many highlighters you have.
