Spoiler: The legal notes

One of the things that I struggled with in Without a Summer was the areas that touched on law. Mark Pallis, the BBC Historical consultant for Garrow’s Law, vetted my legal scenes. British law and American law are vastly different, and even more so when you hark back to 1816. In the afterword of the book, I promised to post copies of his notes on my website, along with the original courtroom scene.

For obvious reasons, there will be giant, giant spoilers since he is giving me notes on several plot points. Still, if you are interested in geekery, this is pretty cool.

You can download the .doc of Mark Pallis’s Without a Summer notes

You can also read the original courtroom scene. The password is the last word in the story — not the last word in the book.
