Willamette River Panorama

This is huge, but oh, so worth it if you want a really good view of Portland. In the center of the photo, between the two bridges, there are two boats moored to a dock. Those belong to the Portland Spirit, where I spent a while as a singing waitress. Yes, really. Nice folks and good to work for.

  1. Great picture. You can use the phrase “The volcanos are out” with this picture. It took me a minute to realize that I could expand the picture and use the scroll bars to see the Portland Spirit.

  2. When I read this post, I knew exactly what photo you were talking about; I saw it in Wikipedia just the other day. Isn’t it fabulous? (For those Readers of Mary’s Journal who haven’t been to Portland, the city looks like this all the time! (Well, except at night, of course) It’s quite beautiful.)

  3. Shhhh, Evan. It rains here all the time! Really! (The city is getting too crowded already). And it’s grey from October through June! Never really clears until after July 4th!

  4. Oh, that’s gorgeous Mary. Thanks for posting a link.

Until I was seventeen, my family used to go to Portland twice a year, usually in March and August, and then we’d head on over to the coast. I really miss visiting, and am determined to take my own children one of these years.

  5. Did I just hear you use the term “homesick” in describing Portland? My hope for eventual your return is revived! Really, a lovely shot- David is quite taken with it, thanks for drawing our attention to it,
