In the airport

Aside from getting pulled for additional screening because of the Blue Snowball mic in my bag, it was pretty smooth getting here. They ignored the 10 stainless steel chopsticks in my bag and the liquids which I forgot to pull out. At the moment, I’m thrilled to be liberated from airport wi-fi thanks to my phone. We’re transferring in D.C. and should be in Chattanooga around 4:00.

  1. …what, exactly, about a microphone would mean they pull you aside for? Sometimes airport security is totally random.

They tend to give chopsticks a pass. I traveled by plane nine days post 9/11 with a set of chopsticks in my bag–my supernice black wooden ones with the silver metal dragons curled around the top. The checker pulled them out, looked, said “Are these chopsticks?” to which I replied “Yes, I like to eat with them.” Which was and remains quite the truth. He then said “Straight!” as he admired the dragons, and put them back, lol. Stainless steel chopsticks sound AMAZING, though. Do they have grooves to help you pick up smaller noodles and slippery things?
