Today was a busy day and although the massage felt good, I had to do the same pose for two different shots right after that so my neck still hurts. Someday for fun, try catching a styrafoam apple, in fleece gloves, while lying facedown on someone’s chest–without looking.
Elemental: The Tsunami Relief Anthology In the winter of 2005, after the horrifying natural disaster of the tsunami in Southeast Asia, Steven Savile and Alethea Kontis joined forces to raise money to help the distressed survivors and have created Elemental. They solicited SF and fantasy stories, all new and never published elsewhere, from many of

Today we did this shot where one of the characters had fallen. For a variety of reasons, we had to shoot this on the ground, instead of an elevated set. It’s always difficult with live hands to be on the ground. The only position in which I could do everything I needed to do was

We only worked until two o’clock today and then we got to flee the studio. Sarah, Emily and I went downtown and sat outside at a cafe. We enjoyed frosty adult beverages and then walked by the lake, did some shopping and headed back to my house for dinner. I made bulgur with chiles and
We didn’t have to be to work until 2:00 today, which was lovely. I slept in. Emily and I met and had lunch downtown and then we went to work. It was amazingly low key. I worked some eyebrows and moved a monitor. That was about it. There was one glorious thing, though. I biked
This is more than a little silly, but fun. Are You a Yankee or a Rebel? My natural score comes up as “70% Dixie. Just under the Mason-Dixon Line,” which explains why my Tennessee relatives call me the “Northern Belle.” My brother comes up as 86% Dixie and he’s lived out of the country longer

Thank heavens. I don’t know about you, but while they were doing the upgrade on my website I was really feeling cut-off. I’ll try to catch you up on the past couple of days but I’ll cheat by back-dating the entries.
The first shot on the call sheet today was Air Trixie. This was the first time that a full-body greenscreen puppet got used this season. Sarah worked Trixie’s head and torso. Emily worked the arms and I was on feet. For the shot, Trixie had to leap up and do a karate pose to the

Things on set have been very busy and while Dean was here I didn’t want to update my journal in the evenings. We are between company right now, although I just heard that our friend Wayne will be coming to visit us soon and that Rob’s folks will follow after that. I’m looking forward to
We spent the day at Snæfellsnes with Dean Sharenow. Dean is Rob’s college roommate and is half of the bandKill Henry Sugar. (I’m listening to his music now and highly recommend it.) The weather was foul when we set out and I really wondered if we had made a mistake since you could not see
Okay, it’s a small thing, but I’m still pretty excited about it. Shimmer made the top five bestsellers list at Clarkesworld Books for the Week ending April 23, 2006. Kind of cool.
